Our founder and CEO, Nazli Azimi, PharmD, PhD, was named to In Vivo’s prestigious list of 2021 Rising Leaders. Marking the second edition of the ‘Rising Leaders’ list, In Vivo highlights entrepreneurs and innovators who represent the next wave of creativity in health care. Included are academics, CEOs of small and mid-sized companies, rising employees in larger biopharma and medtech businesses, as well as people driving unique health initiatives worldwide.
In an interview, Nazli told In Vivo, “The definition of entrepreneurship and creativity is that you see something that nobody else does, and you make it a reality.”
Nazli calls herself an “accidental entrepreneur,” but her success as a leader in the biotech field was no accident – she forged past a string of rejections with unwavering determination to make her novel therapy ‘idea’ a reality. Based on this idea of blocking immune cytokine responses, she founded Bioniz to advance first-in-class multi-cytokine inhibitory therapeutics. Data presented last year at ASH showed clinical efficacy of the company’s lead candidate (BNZ-1) in patients that had previously failed several other therapies.
There is no age restriction to being included; the 30 people on this list have been recognized for bringing something new to the game. The list focuses on achievements, talent, creativity and strong leadership qualities.
