Antagonistic peptides

Antagonistic peptides

Scientists at Bioniz have developed novel peptides that have antagonist effects against multiple cytokines. These peptides target a shared receptor that is used by a family of cytokines but only selectively inhibits some of them. Such peptides could efficiently inhibit the cytokine action in vivo to cure inflammatory and autoimmune diseases in a much more flexible way than anti-cytokine antibodies. Moreover, the sequence of these peptides can be modified to change the inhibition spectrum of the peptide. This would allow Bioniz to design custom peptides that could be used for different autoimmune diseases based on their specific need.
